After you have completed your induction learning (including the Care Certificate in England), you will be asked to consider enrolling in a qualification or apprenticeship relevant to their role and experience. Apprenticeships offer a fantastic opportunity to gain relevant qualifications while supporting your development to deliver high standards of care and support for Residents. Apprenticeships are available from level 2 for new carers, right through to level 5 for aspiring and new home managers.

You will have access to all of your learning and development opportunities via our award winning learning platform, which hosts informative and engaging learning content relevant to your role. It is easy to access at a time and a place to suit you and available in bite size learning so it’s easy to invest in your development around your commitments. At HC-One we believe a blended learning approach helps everyone achieve the skills and knowledge they need in a way that suits their preferred learning style. This includes face to face workshops for practical skills and virtual interactive workshops for other areas such as infection control. As a Skills for Care Centre of Excellence, all of our learning is quality assured and reviewed regularly to make sure all Colleagues have the right learning at the right time.

As a nurse at HC-One, a wide range of professional development is available at your fingertips, including specialist e-learning courses from RCNi. There are also Clinical Development days delivered by one of our specialist learning partners which provide an excellent opportunity to learn new skills or brush up on others, while networking with likeminded peers from other HC-One care homes.

Whether you’re a senior carer, a nursing assistant, a chef or housekeeper, you will have the responsibility of making sure your team and your shift runs smoothly so that Residents are well cared for at all times. Our Aspire leadership programme will help you develop important leadership skills to help you get the best from your team and ensure you have all the knowledge you need to provide the kindest care.

If you are also keen to gain a qualification while you develop your skills, our virtual academy also delivers ILM level 4 accredited courses in Leadership and Management through our Leading Well programme.

As your experience develops, you might be interested in developing your mentoring skills to help others, or become a team leader in the future. Our flagship first steps leadership programme, Stepping Up, is an excellent way to learn how to work well with Colleagues to deliver the kindest care. Its open to all Colleagues who are interested in developing skills in coaching and giving feedback and how to take that first step into leading a team.

There are also opportunities to develop your mentoring skills through a blend of e-learning, face to face workshops and even the potential to complete a level 3 accredited certificate in mentoring
